Gloucester has always been a very happy boat, with a light and airy interior. It has a very versatile layout, offering two double beds and up to four singles, or one double and up to six singles. It would be very suitable as a family cruising boat, or as a liveaboard. It was meticulously built and has been carefully looked after by the people who built it.
Craft Identification Number GBSHCCS817E999. Canal & River Trust number 503760. Boat Safety Certificate expires 10 January 2027. This boat has been carefully looked after in our hire fleet all its life so far. It will receive its full winter maintenance and be partially repainted.

Hull
Bottom 10mm; hull sides 6mm; cabin sides and roof 4mm. The boat was docked, inspected and blacked (with Hempel's 2-pack) in November 2023, and will be repainted in red with blue or green panels and grey decks. Flat bottomed. 4 brass roof vents. Pole and plank rack in steel. Steel bow door and stern centre doors, lined with blockboard. Anodised aluminium ¼ drop back vent single glazed windows: port – 2 x 48" x 24", 2 x 36" x 24", 2 x 24" x 24"; starboard 1 x 48" x 24", 3 x 36" x 24", 1 x 24" x 24". Front bulkhead and door are glazed.
Engine
Engines Plus (Kioti) Canaline 42 4-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine, 1.99 litres, developing 42 bhp at 2600 rpm; number EP15 0043. Fitted with electric start and twin alternators, and one starter battery and 2 banks of 2 x 110amp domestic batteries. 3 x battery master switches. Adverc alternator controller. Gearbox: PRM 260 hydraulic box, no. 0511171 F00726 260D2. Plumber block with thrust bearing. Centaflex flexible coupling. Drive by 1 1/2" stainless propshaft to 3-bladed propeller. Single lever control. Brass stern tube greaser. Panel in cabin, with key start, voltmeter, ammeter, temperature gauge and warning lights and buzzer for alternators, temperature and oil pressure. Switches for horn, headlight, bilge pump and water pumps. Weedhatch with quick-release lid. Integral stern diesel tank (approx 200l / 45 gal) and filler. The engine has been regularly serviced.
Fit-out materials
Lined in 18mm blockboard faced with white ash veneer, with cabin sides and deckhead in pine boarding. Bulkheads and furniture in 18mm ash-faced blockboard. Edgings and cappings in solid ash. Floor in 18mm cement-bonded particle board, with vinyl flooring in galley, toilet and bathroom, and carpet elsewhere. The woodwork is in overall very good condition. Insulation in fire retardant polystyrene, 50mm to hull sides, 25mm to cabin sides and deckhead.
Services
Hot water (in calorifier) is heated by the engine, or by the Alde 2928 gas-fired boiler. The boiler also supplies the central heating. Stainless steel water tank under front deck, with access hatch. Victron Phoenix 12/1600 1600 watt inverter. RCD with circuit breaker for 230v service. Panel with MCBs for 12 volt service. 2 x ParMax 2.9 water pumps with Square D pressure switch and air accumulator. Jabsco 31295 shower-emptying pump. Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms.
