If you picked this page to look for boat rental, you're probably from overseas, in which case, you're specially welcome.
Planning a boating vacation on the Yorkshire canals is a snap with us - all the information you need is right here on our website, or you can email or call us for prompt and helpful answers..
You'll find the Yorkshire folk you meet along the way are really friendly, and will be interested to know where you come from. And if you can boast some Yorkshire ancestry, so much the better!
A canalboat vacation is a brilliant way of exploring Yorkshire - no driving on the wrong side of the road or difficult map reading. If you can't pronounce the place names (try 'Mytholmroyd' or 'Slaithwaite') just join the Brits and ask the locals.
This site is divided into holidays for everyone - suitable for first timers - and more demanding holidays for experienced boaters. If this is your first time, pick one of the holidays for everyone and ignore the rest. Or look on our site dedicated to first time boaters on the Yorkshire canals.
To get here from overseas, see the travel pages for our bases at Sowerby Bridge or Barnoldswick.
For accommodation before your holiday, see our hotels page.
The climate in Yorkshire is temperate. The weather is always unpredictable, but the temperature is likely to be warmest in June to mid-September. Midsummer (third week in June) has much more daylight than the early spring and autumn. In times of prolonged rainfall, the river navigations (the eastern part of our network) can become impassable for a short time. Such events are more likely in spring and autumn.
