Hello,
I’ve just returned to work today after a wonderful weekend on one of your boats out of Barnoldswick. Me and my brother took our parents to celebrate their 80th birthdays. None of us had been on a narrow boat before and we all ended up asking ourselves the same question - ‘why on earth have we never done this before ?!‘
It was fantastic, so relaxing (as well as being very good fun), and I can’t think of a better way to have celebrated their birthdays.
From the moment we arrived at the Marina everyone was so helpful, friendly and professional. The quality of the boat was excellent and the advice and tuition given superb.
We didn’t get that far but it was perfect for us: from the Marina to East Marton where we stayed on Friday night. Lovely meal & drinks in the Cross Keys. Then on the Saturday towards Bank Newton but turned before the 6 locks and back up towards the Marina before turning before the 3 locks and back to East Marton to stay the night again (it is so nice there, opposite the horse stables). Finally on the Sunday, back towards Bank Newton to turn and then all the way up to the Foulridge tunnel which was amazing. My mum claims she’s claustrophobic but she absolutely loved going through the tunnel – the joy & excitement on both of their faces was lovely to see.
Finally, Sunday night moored outside the Anchor pub (which is very nice) before heading back up on the Monday morning. Had a strange incident on the Sunday night with a tapping noise outside my bedroom window at about 10.30pm – opened the curtains to be confronted by a swan looking at me through the window – I don’t know who was more shocked! It was pecking at the side of the boat. I took a cracking photo which I showed the chaps at the Marina, they were very amused.
We all can’t wait to do it again!
I just wanted to say thanks to you and your wife for all the help with the arrangements and making our weekend so special.
Best regards,
Andrew Mounter
